What is naturalistic theory?

What is naturalistic theory?

the view that progress and change in scientific history are attributable to the Zeitgeist, which makes culture receptive to some ideas but not to others

- an example are simultaneous discovers, such as Darwin's evolutionary theory was been done around the same time another scientist was developing the idea

- another example is how established theories can make it difficult for scientists to disprove them

- zeitgeist can inhibit a discipline's focus, as such was shown in psychology where consciousness was ruled out since it was subjective, only later to be studied

- science exists in the context of an environment, for example, method of psychology moved in the direction of the zeitgeist that favored observational, experimental and scientific approach to the truth
