How does the false consensus work to further entrench us in our beliefs?



The false consensus effect is the tendency to overestimate the extent to which others agree with us. It is the assumption that everyone acts as we do, we generalize from a limited sample of people, which includes ourselves. Also, we are more likely to associate with people who are similar to ourselves.

So, it further entrenches us in our beliefs by falsely confirming that we are correct/accurate
