What is the cognitive interview and how can it be used by police?



Cognitive Interviews is an interview technique based in cognitive psychology, focusing on context reinstatement to enhance recall of events

Police use CI to recall witness memory. They create a rapport with the person and then ask them to "go back" to the event and having them visualize. They use open ended question and encourage witnesses to use complete answers.
