Answer: In fact, there are a lot of similarities across cultures about where people place color boundaries. Berlin and Kay found that if a language only has 1-2 color names, they are often assigned to black and white. If a language has 3 color names, it adds red, with 4 color names, it adds green/yellow, and so on. Therefore, throughout cultures there is a certain continuity in color naming.
