What is token economy? How could you use it effectively in your classroom? Give an example.



a. Token economy is the technique in which desired behaviors are reinforced by tokens that learners can use to "purchase" a variety of other reinforcers.
b. Effectively in the classroom you could have the reinforcers be something that gives the child special privileges.
c. The children receive a token for good grades, handing in homework, or behaving well. The tokens can than be saved and when enough is collected used to buy lunch in the classroom, head of the lunch line, and free time in the reading center, or special jobs in the classroom.
