Describe lipid absorption
Bile shuttles lipids across watery mucus layer to waiting absorptive surface on cells of intestinal villi. The cells then extract the lipid. Bile may be absorbed and reused by the body, or it can flow back into intestinal contents and exit with feces. - up to 98% of fats consumed are absorbed. Very little fat is excreted. Process of fat digestion takes time.
