What are several reasons that renewable energy sources are not used as much as fossil fuels?



-Not always available when needed. For example solar energy cannot be used at night, or on cloudy days.

-Not equally available in all geographic locations. For example solar energy is not suitable in an area with lots of trees, biodiesel cannot be used in cold areas, wind energy cannot be used in areas where there is not a lot of wind constantly, and etc.

-More expensive than fossil fuels because of federal subsidies.
